i have a master lock and tried and failed miserably to open the lock to see the insides. is there a way to do this without some sort of power saw or grinder?

its a masterlock#5

I admit i dont know the exact answer to your question having never done it but its likely the lock will haver to be cut up yes,

WHy do you want to do this? if it is just interest to see how a lock works click on my www button and save yourself damageing a lock you could use for practice,

If you want to repin it to make learnign easier may i suggest you get a cheap cylinder instead,

its an old lock and use for practice is quite useless. i simple put the tension wrench in and then insert my pick and push down on the back pin and it opens. maybe something is broke inside.

so i figured i would just cut it open somehow to see the inside of the lock.

angle grind the cornors off the bottom (make sure the retaining rivets are included in this) then use a flat screw driver and a hammer to remove the laminates
