Fastest pick

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Fastest pick

I am looking for a pick that is fast. I don't wan't to buy an electric or automatic, but I want to be able to do some really fast picking. I was thinking the kwik pick, or some other rake. any Ideas?

and I am not an experienced picker. I am pretty much a n00b.
Soon everything will become foolproof; and then someone will invent a better fool. :P

bogota,

but - you will be wildly inconsistant, you should SPP until you feel comfortable you can open the lock you're working on, then start going for speed.

If by kwik pick you mean the Dyno Kwick pick, don't waste your money on it. It's a crappy tool that breaks very easily. If you want to pick fast without a mechanical pick tool, raking would be the best option but it will not work 100% of the time. You'll need a decent rake pick like this one, http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... ProdID=217. But Schuyler is right, if you want to be fast and skilled at picking, you'll have to get real good at the SPP method first. You have to know how to walk before you run.

The only thing that makes you fast is practice. It helps to have decent picks but it's not about the tools, it's about who uses them.
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

Why would you be in need of such a fast lockpick tool anyways?

Is your goal to show off, or rip off?
If it's to show (and I hope it is) then you know what they say,....

Fastest Pick

Smooth is fast, fast is smooth.......
Can you pull your swang out in complete darkness while buzzed and take a leak without soiling mommie´s carpet? Of course you can cause you´ve done it a million times. The same with anything....practice and visualize your way to perfection.
Get on it and exploit!

Yep, practice. Read DBs picking exercises thread (at least I think it's DBs). It's good stuff. Don't forget a plug follower when taking the lock apart though, I just spent the last 2 hours trying to put my lock back together after the pins and springs flew all over my room. Also, some locks are just gonna ake longer than others. I have one lock that I can pick in 10-20 seconds and one that takes me quite a while.

Ok... thats an odd comparison...

But as said above, there is no quick fix. and personally i wouldn't recommend raking as the way to go for a beginner. And if there was a quick way to open any lock why would we be doing it the slow hard way?

Because that give our hobby the hack value to make it interesting no matter how hard it is. :D
