picked my first lock

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

picked my first lock

Postby xboxteen01 » 8 Apr 2007 23:56

i just picked my first lock,a master lock 40 mm plated steel padlock, ive been working on this one for about a month. last night i made a long hook style pick and tonight i opened it perfectly after about 5 min. of practice. once the shock subsided,i thought to myself that this wasn't skill but the fact i basically broke the lock and it opens easier. Is this possible? i have opened this same lock about 10 times now with varying degrees of success opening it in as little time as 10-12 sec using a long hook or half diamond made from cut hack saw blades. my cameras done so i wont have pics of the picks lol.

Yeah, I had the same feeling when I open my first lock. You first suffer shock and you start to doubt yourself and figure it must have been easy because the lock was defective. I can assure you that that is almost never the case, at least in my experience. Once you get comfortable with your present lock, get yourself a couple other padlocks or even a kwikset deadbolt and give it a shot. I'm sure your doubts will soon fade. Congrats on your first pick by the way. :D
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
