Sentry Key order.

I followed the tip of a member of this board and called a locksmith to order a sentry key that I lost. He told me that it take a couple week for the order to deliver... I was wondering why it takes so long to order a key?

ask the locksmith not us... numerous factor could be envolved... including but not limited to: manufacturers timings, postal service, weather, the existence of a flying spaghetti monster, the difficulty of production, limited liability reasons, supply vs demand, the mood of the tradesperson, the type of food you ate last thursday morning, the price of eggs in eastern Mongolia, the temperature setting in the building of the call taker, security procedures, the gathering of precious metals, quanity ordered.....
take your pick!

UWSDWF Do you doubt his noodly greatness?

Who knows why things take a long time from the manufacturer. If it was just a tubular key, you would have been better off having the locksmith pick it and cut the appropriate key. If it was the "cross" lock, Sentry would probably be the better bet, as these keys aren't as common as you would think.

Great the price of eggs in in eastern Mongolia just went up. Looks like my delivery is going to take a couple more days.

It could be just the fact that that one key is going to cost a lot of money if ordered on its own or if tagged onto his monthly order it will be a lot cheaper due to free postage etc,

I'm really not sure where this thread went, but the answer is simple.

The reason it takes so long is because he does not know what key blank to use or what the cuts were, so he just called Sentry and ordered a set of keys from them.

You could have done the same thing, but for a lot less I'm sure.
