Pretty much. Most commercial pick blades are around that length as far as I know. Just measure the depth of a keyway in a 5 pin lock that you have, then use approximately double that length for the blade, that way your knuckles won't be catching on the tension wrench.
Most of my home made picks are about 5 inches in total length, and I have hands like a bear.......
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!
