Wafer style?

Postby bumber » 11 Apr 2007 15:55

I got a pair of THE CLUBs at my house i've had for years, as i never use 'em i've lost the keys. So I would like to know if they are pin or wafer systems. Or somthing else entirely.

The club I own (also without key) is a wafer lock. However, from the keyblanks available, there seems to be both single and double sided wafer locks in these things.

I will if its possible(not beaking anything) because I would like to add them to my lock collection without the big arse clubs.

Pick it open first and then disassemble the lock. This assumption is based on my knowledge that usually locks can be taken apart when open :)

I do not believe that 'The Club' can have the lock extracted. If I remember right, the lock core might be welded in there by the outer shroud that also acts as the housing of the lock core.

I could be wrong as it has been a while since I last played with one. But as far as I can remember, I tried to cut the housing off and was left with nothing more than the plug and a few wafers.

If you dont really mind "breaking" one, you could heat up the club with a torch to remove the hardened temper and use a hacksaw to chop your way through it. All that is left is the lock and a few inches on each side of the lock. At least it would be more hand held rather than a lap full.

I doubt going through all that trouble for a flimsy double wafer lock is really worth all the trouble or have much hack value.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
