some of the cheaper chinese padlocks such as tri-circle are packed with security pins.

You could always try impressioning the lock if you can find the blanks for it. That way you'll have a working key when done. Another trick I found with many cheap made in china padlocks is that they can be shimmed from the front of the cylinder. And if you have spring loaded latches instead of ball bearings that hold the shackle, try making a few padlock shims and inserting on both sides of the shackle(simultaneously.

any lock from china is junk and the keys are always unique, so finding a blank is impossible, you usually got to modify a blank that's close.

ok, so i didnt want to start a new thead so hear go's. Im trying to shim the same crazy lock, when open has two hooks on the shackle one on the side that swings out and one on the side that stays in. After nearly cuttin off all my fingers i thought maby i need to shim both sides. Does only one need to be shimed and the other just room for the locking mech. or do I need em both shimmed? thanks in advance.

You need to shim both sides of the shackle.

when shimming padlocks pop can shims usually wont work. you either need stronger material or commercial shims.

I disagree, I've had great luck with pop can shims, granted I have to use them in a somewhat unconventional manner. I insert the shim like normal on the opposite side as the latch and take a pair of pliers and grab hold of the shim making sure its wrapped tightly around the shackle and turn with the pliers.

Another helpful hint is if you have trouble inserting a pop can shim is to sand the paint off which helps make them a lot thinner but just as strong. That being said, if you don't have time to sand pop can shims for 1-2 uses, professional shims are nice to have.

I do alright with pop can shims for master combos, also i tried sanding brick strap with the shops belt sander. After sanding it about as thin as a pop can I than tempered it. This did not work really.
