As much as I wanted to do a two week resident type course I just couldn't afford it....time off work$ + Hotel$ + transportation$ + course fee $$.

I decided to sign up for the FB Course. I had a few questions when I called so they transferred me over to the top man. When I was willing to sign up the best deal he would give me was 10% off the $769 price. He informed me the $599 price was during slower times (mid/late summer) so I told him maybe I'll call back in the summer, and he pretty much said o.k.....see ya..

Thirty minutes later I called and hit promt #1 (the order line) and a very kind and polite lady signed me up for the $599 price (paid in full). She was quite insistant that I take the 30 days (trial period) after receiving the first packet of lessons instead doing the waiver and receive everything at once.

I'm sure some of the stuff will be quite basic but I intend on approaching it with an open mind as I realize there are some basic stuff that I want/need to know. Most of my work has been with SFIC and last week I set up a new Alarm Lock mortice with/proxi and key over ride for about 16 users, just have to get it in the door next........

The first 10 lessons or so will be really easy, be patient they get alot better and more fun. Their is nothing that is terribly hard, some lessons such as impressioning will likely take you multiple tries, but it's a good course. I enjoyed it alot. Good luck.

Yeah even their impressioning course is a little watered down. I won't say much more cos I don't want to ruin it for you or anyone else....unless you want me to.

You say youve been a locksmith for 3 years i dont think the FB course is gogin to be of much use to you,

I dont know what the status is on the licensing thing with alarms over there but here a lockie cant do it you need to be specificly licensed, if thats the case there then you would be far better spending your $600 on an alarm course that will teach you what you want and give you the license at the end of it,

Locksmithing accounts for about 8% of my time at work. I took over for someone who was retiring who gave me a quick course on their way out, it was pretty much a SOS (sink or swim) situation. And since all I ever work on is small format IC I figured the course would give me some exposure to other things in addition to that piece of paper at the end of it all.....

Not sure about the alarm thing.........that's not a primary interist for me right now..........

For the impressioning course, the lock they send you is a, if I remember correctly, a five pin lock. What they do though is they take out the second and fourth pin out of the lock leaving it as a three pin lock. I was a bit disappointed but as someone who does not do a lot of impressioning or have a lot of experience with it, I think it was appropriate.
