TOOOL reference to Klaus Noch alerting media re burglaries?

Postby whiteknight38 » 17 Apr 2007 21:27

Any one got any info on the purported rash of burglaries that the TOOOL website mentions in their "history of bumping timeline:
"2002/2003 Klaus Noch (re?)discovers the problem and alerts the German media."
Any archival links to articles, or to the backstory?
PM's welcome.
Google's been of limited help.
Thanks.

Makes me laugh everytime i read it, total bollocks, the technique has been around longer than anyone is still alive so discovered in 02/03 lol give us a break i was doing it before then myself,

Ps, knowing that claims of burglaries from toool have prevuiously turned out to be mere comments with no evidence to back it up im guessing there may be no list of crimes in actual reality,

I don't think any real criminal would bother to spend time to learn how to bump locks for the most part. Most criminals wouldn't bother trying to pick a lock to gain entry because it places them in a vulnerable position for too long and bumping for the most part requires you to be in the same situation with your concentration on the lock and your back exposed to the outside. And half of most break-in crimes happen because people just don't lock their doors in the first place. I don't know why but they just don't.

I don't know for how long bumping has been around, but afaik Noch was the first one to utilize the minimal movement method.
It's not the tools that open the lock. It's me.

I've heard different things. Some people say that it's been around the locksmith circle for about 50 years while others say that Issac Newton was the one who discovered the method behind it because of his Law of motion finding or something. But a lot of locksmithing books like the ones by Bill Phillips does mention about the method of rapping to open a lock cylinder too so who knows.
