i recently found a large collection of Master Lock combination locks, and they all say the same V### on the back of them. They all also have keyhole in the back. I heard before that if they are the same version. a master key will open all of them. Is this true? Also, i wanted to attempt making a key, so if anyone would know how to find a keyblank i would be much appreciative.

Break it open, pick the lock, remove the core with bottom pins still in their corresponding holes, insert blank key, file as necessary

right, but i don't know where i can find a keyblank. There is only one hardware store nearby, and they don't have what i need... if i posted a picture of the end of the cylinder could someone look up the keyblank in a blankbook?

Your lock hardware store will have it, believe me. Bring the empty core to them, and tell them its for a Masterlock. Have them try out to see what keys fit, if they right key isn't in their "book"

Try that, and if they still can't find a match PM me your address, if in the United States. I will mail you one.

well i guess this seems a little odd doesn't it, hehe. recently they tore down a our old middle school, but one night, half-way through destruction, me and some friend went in and grabbed a bunch of locks. We didn't know what we were going to do with them, but i wanted to try making a key and make use of all these locks

Since you didn't have permission you stole the locks and didn't 'find' them as stated in your first post.....
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

Post Mortem of this thread:
i recently found a large collection of Master Lock combination locks
Okay... Sambo, just to keep yourself in a positive light, care to explain the situation?
Carrying on...... well i guess this seems a little odd doesn't it, hehe.
Yup! recently they tore down a our old middle school, but one night, half-way through destruction, me and some friend went in and grabbed a bunch of locks.
And, Since you didn't have permission you stole the locks
But..... i found them in my house, i had completly forgotten about them in the past 2 years
So, two years is 'recently' and considering that you forgot about them, that makes theft okay?
Which is it really?
A. - you have just (two years ago) stolen the locks.
or:
B. - you wish to know how to make a master key to open any of these types of lock which are only sold to schools/institutions? And for what purpose?
You're not off to a good start here mate.....
If it ain't broke.....pull it down and see how it works anyway!

I'd have to say he should have waited until the locks met the curb. Once they were in the trash, they are ownerless, and anyone can claim them.
I know that the Supreme Court of Canada has declared that garbage at the roadside has no property rights. I believe the U.S. Supreme Court said the same thing. Hence the number of private dumpsters in industrial parks, and institutions.
Could some kind American with the pertinent information clairify this for me and everyone else? I believe I am right about the American ruling, but since I am in Canada I don't pay as much attention to the U.S. laws.
Thanks,
Romstar

Here's where I come in:
California v. Greenwood. Greenwood was involved in narcotics activity and left paraphenalia in a garbage bag on his curb. The police seized the garbage, and found the paraphenalia which allowed them to have probably cause to get warrant to search his house.
People v. Kirvada tried to overturn Greenwood and set presidence by stating that searching through ones garbage on the curb violates the fourth ammendment, but failed since the respondents voluntarily left their garbage for collection in an area particularly suited for public inspection, their claimed expectation of privacy in the inculpatory items they discarded was not objectively reasonable.
I could have just said Yes, if it's on the curb it's free game but i'll be if i wont use this degree i'm earning for something.
