How do you tell what lock your buying? been to hardware shop and it dont say nothing bout 5 pin tumbler or cylinder or wafer, what does all this mean? how do i tell the diffrence, and when you say tension, is that the name of a the pick tool or do you mean tension as in pressure?

Generally for medium to high security applications you will buy a branded product, and thus you know what the mechanism is (or could find out).

Wafer locks typically have a wide keyway, are normally found as switches or on equiptment cases, and you can often see the front wafer.

Pin tumbler locks are what many people think of as locks. Popular world wide.

Disc tumbler locks (some people call Wafer locks this as well) are based around the principle of rotating discs. Used in high security applications, typically have very open keyway

I would install a medeco because they take so much time to pick and not to mention that they are bump proof. You could also go with Abloy. And for the heck of it also put a tubular lock because they take so much time to pick unless you have a tubular pick!

treat your employees with respect, most of the inside robberies come from disgruntled employees punching back, if the managers are paranoid control freeks who disrespect the people they lead, you will have trouble.

Very good point. Also when installning the security system, make sure you have the right ppl doing it. Always ask for lisence or make sure your employees or co-workers do. Someone might bribe the locksmith to take a walk and let them do the job instead, who knows. I would check the building sorroundings aswell. Whats underneath the room? Whats on top etc?
