broken picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

well no, the back door lock, it is fine. see, I was picking the lock and I was like...well it is hard to explain, but simply put the pick didn't feel right, I looked at the pick after I pulled it out, and it was like really badly bent, I just broke the pick head off right then and there as to prevent it from falling somehwere or w/e. but the lock is fine. :)

But my single sided pick, I was picking my back door lock for like the first time, and ya I was kinda screwing up the tension because I had never done the lock before, other than that I was just picking padlocks that were easy.

I'll just get another single sided pick and a jar rake pick, and a single short sided pick, looks kinda cool.

dude,
you gotta start calling the picks by the correct names or we won't know what you're talking about. I've never heard of a single short sided pick or a jag rake pick, can you please link us to some pics of the picks?

thanks,

ok... after some poking around our favorite lock picking supply websites
I did find lockpicks.com does use the term Jag in several of their rakes.

Here are names used by other pick manufacturers and distributors:

LockPicks.com calls it Jag Snake Pick:

Peterson calls it a Triple Rake:
http://peterson-international.com/individualpicks-detailed.htm#tripple%20rake

Southord calls is an S rake:
http://www.southord.com/catalog.asp?cat=trad_std

LockPickshop.com calls it an S rake:
http://www.lockpickshop.com/SP-11.html

Matt Blaze had this to say on his awesome site Crypto.com:
http://www.crypto.com/photos/misc/picks/

and if you're just starting out with lockpicking, read his paper here:

that was fun, anyone care to add more manufacturers naming conventions?
