The metal measuring tape, usually work better than pop can shims. Alot stronger. From what Ive heard, Ive never used it myself, but Ive heard it praised.

Not the tape itself but the spring that retract's the tape.

I guess your right, I just heard metal measuring tape mentioned before for shimming. The metal measuring tape is thin like an aluminum coke can so I assumed that was why it was mentioned.

Why not the tape itself? Unless it is too thick, you'd have plenty of it to waste since you have to kill your tape anyway. I've never had a tape just break on me.....YET :shock:

Actually, you do use the tape of the tape measure. I have several shims made out of a tape measure, and they work wonderfully.
After shaping them I use a grinder to take the paint off of one side and that makes them the perfect thickness.
They are very strong, and last for many uses.

What could be better then 25' of shim stock for ~5$?

i got these 2 small locks for a dollar for both and all you have to do is get a paper clip bend it so it is like a tenchin wrench and turn and the lock opens :P quote from package "We trust in our products and stand by them" wow there retarted

the ones you have are probly crappy brass luggage locks, these are silver with a blue band around the bottom
