When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

well, I finally have my petersons, it pretty much completes the collection, with falles, peterson, southords, but no TOOOL!!!
quick review
It comes with some nice bypass tools but truthfully I find that they are all over priced anyway.
The 3 I-Core tools work exceptionally well because before now, I was just getting lucky on all of those BEST and ARROW lock cores and I may pick them in a minute or maybe an hour, but now there is some consistency
It came with documentation on how to use the bypass tools but they are a little hard to follow.
I like the U-Bend-it tension tools. It came with a bunch of pieces of material and a bender to customize your tension tools the way you like them and it came with my favorite "the serrated tension tools"
pros: nice complete kit, lots of tension tools and customizable.
cons: crazy expensive, have to be an extreme hobbiest to purchase these.
I dont find the "government steel" any different than the average hacksaw blade or southord pick. The bypass documentation is a little hard to follow and very general, you would have to have had some kind of training to know how they work. I dont really like the "slim rubber handle tools" because when you use them, the handle bends along with the tool and it is kinda hard to control, instead of just making a solid handle.

I agree with you on the rubber handles on the slim picks. They're flexible and useful to have but if you put any pressure on the handle it flexes and bends making it harder to transfer any pressure on the pins while picking. I rarely ever use them.

dude, good f***ing luck out there.
....you could do what Howard Thurston did to pass the time in the trenches, and practice card and coin manipulation with gloves....only you know, pick some locks. However, I doubt you'll find any down time over there with all the bombings.
Again, good luck.

keep your head down and make sure you come home. its a politicians war and these politicians are chicken hawks and lead by a deserter. Not one of them even knows what victory would be. they are lost in their own hubris and narcissism

Yeah, be careful out there. Too many good people have already died from this poorly planned and executed war where the people up in DC have no idea what you guys have to deal with, sometimes even after you get back home. Good luck.

ok, i have been sanding and polishing these picks for quite some time now and yes i would like to retract my previous statement about the "government steel"
yes this steel is very very hard, it takes a few pieces of sandpaper per pick because the steel is so hard
