Luggage Lock..

I have a 3 number lock that i havent used in years on an old backpack of mine. it's a fun lock that seems to me to be designed like old bike-chain locks. (you know, the spin-pull ones that everyone knows how to crack;)) anyways, this one looks sort of like a c-clamp, but the part you depress to remove it from the zipper handles is the "shank" part of the lock.

anyways, it has three wheels with the numbers 0-9 on it, and i thought it would be supereasy to crack considering it only took me abour 20 minutes to go from 000 to 999. ...unfortunately after doing so i hadn't found the code. i've gone through all the numbers three times now and the lock doesn't seem to want to open at all.

any ideas? :|

You went through _every_ number between 000 and 999?

It's usually a fairly simple process to crack one of these locks, but due to the nature of the subject matter, it's best not to discuss this in the open forum. It's the same process as picking a regular lock, applying tension and maniplating tumblers. PM me if you need more hints.

technik mate, check out the poster's nick. Your He is a She. And if cracking any kind of lock is fun to her..... she can have dinner on me heh.

Now back to the topic at hand. Simply rotating the numbers won't do,as you have to apply the opening procedure. I am not sure what specific lock you own, so I have very little to offer you with regards to procedure. Now, if you have tried the correct opening procedure on all of the numbers, and nothing works, your lock my be stuffed.

yea, VERY bad thing to talk about on an open forum. Luke is embarrased about his video collection..... I thought he had some good movies, but he was always just turning red.... *i am talking about videos of lockpicking* *get your minds outa the gutters*

I say just use brute force a snap it off. Or if yu want to go from 000 to 999 again make sure after each spin *stop* try to open it, then keep going. I know sometimes when im really bored I just sit there and try to pick one of those locks by pulling a spinning without stopping.
I love the *click*
