some plumbing snake is coiled round wire all the way, but the cheaper ones are flat spring steel there is also electricians fish tape, which may be a bit thicker, there will also be several varietys of the plumbing snake in flat steel, pick the thinest. it won't be too thin because it has to have enough thickness to wrestle hairballs. Alternately, sweeper bristle and wiper stifner are usually available for free, if you are interested.

Just got some wind sheild wiper blades so I made some tension wrenches. My attempt at an automotive tension wrench did not really work, but all the rest of them I'm really happy with. It was so easy to make them from the wiper blades it was really fun. It was no longer what can I make from this material, but what do I want to make from this material.

I also have four south. ord. tension wrenches, and one my aunt made, so now I have about as many tension wrenches as picks.

your wishbone tensor still has some potential, you need to file the tips down and possibly temper the bend, (apply heat until the stainless is dull red then quench, to harden and set the crystalization of the metal in the bend. heat needs only to be applied at the bend and the heat color need not stay long, but quench immediatly,
anyones instructions on tempering metal for hardness or springyness or other obviously only apply to the specific metal refered to. so you my end up doing some of the experimenting yourself if you are using different metal.

its made of 1.2 mm thick stainless steel and the pick itself is made of a hacksaw blade

to those of you who are just starting out making picks, look at that one, its very slight, but you would find that it picks almost every lock, in fact if you wanted one slightly higher tip, I wouldn't go too far. on other threads where people are looking for templates, I usually tell them to look at a standard size key, and go for pick tips that are in the medium range of the key cuts, If you make your first hook like this one, and sand it well, you will succeed.

Is it just the picture of did you make like a foot long handle, cause thts a waste.

Heres 2 hook picks the 1 with paint on it was made a few mins ago and the one thats pure silver was made weeks ago.
