BBC3 tv programme Weds

BBC3 tv programme Weds eve - Conning the Conmen

will feature your friend and mine Makowski of London. The prog will look at rougue locksmiths and I also believe that Reactfast are involved in this too. Presumably they will appear and defend 'their locky' against charges that he deliberately mis-diagnosed/overcharged/replaced perfectly good parts etc etc.

Makowski of course is well known to producers of such programmes and he has been on Watchdog/Rogue Traders etc. (£300 for a gain entry to a domestic upvc door).

Unlikely to happen, but maybe a few people needing a lockie soon will remember the program and avoid using RF and maybe call independent lockies instead!

regards

This was first shown last Thursday night and the programme has a slightly different theme to Watchdog/Rogue Traders. Their aim is, like the programme's title, to con the conman in addition to exposure of the overcharging and shoddy workmanship.

Unfortunately, they do not tell you specifically the name of his firm or where he's located, but if you look carefully, you do see the personalised number plate on his Range Rover!

He's called 3 times to jobs and each time he drills the locks and charges ridiculous rates, but they do get out of paying him on the third visit - I won't spoil your enjoyment of the programme as it's quite amusing!

Last weeks programme featured a plumber from RF who took over an hour to solve a 15 minute problem, then charged £185 for 2 hours work, so nothing new there. Again, they are set up themselves later in the programme, but there's no mention of any refund or anything like that!

Enjoy the programme!

ah - i knew the lockie was featured and I also knew that RF were too. I just assumed that both were linked in the same story.

Thinking about it, even RF wouldnt use Makowski would they??

I'm sure RF would use him, but he charges twice if not three times what he would earn for 3 jobs from RF in this programme, so he wouldn't need to work on their behalf!
