Congrats on picking with makeshift gear but, why a mates lock, ive got locks from friends, but i dont really pick their stuff where they live. Cant say id want people picking my stuff either. I feel someone will soon post the rules. Im finding southord picks good, youll want the Euro slimline sets and there are some online UK stores.

You never forget your first time. The wine, soft candlelight...... You will be fine with a 5 piece set to start with. As you progress you will upgrade.

You can get southord shipped to the UK, and there are some UK suppliers of picksets, they are posted on the site somewhere. Personaly id go for something higher than the 5 peice if your concidering this a a serious hobby, extra tension wrench(s) and more picks could be useful. I purcased mine from Devonlocks.co.uk, imporing from the US seems cheaper though. There are 2 sorts of standard picks in southord, "slimline Euro" and Standard. The slimline ones are thinner...and thus fit better in the smaller UK keyways.

This one is not in the UK but it is closer than the US. http://www.multipick-service.cc/index_en.php from Germany. They have a pretty big selection and plenty of advanced tools if you want to progress further in locksports.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

The 8 piece set has picks with metal handles, while the 14 piece set is "handleless". Most everyone prefers the set with handles.
