I prefer to buy the kit. I'll just buy the PXS-14 for now. Maybe if its fun, ill go buy another one. Thanks for the help everyone.

Oh and i know LP101 is for 10% off.....but i remember reading somewhere here there was another code that gets 15% off. Just wondering.

Both :D

What I was trying to do is back up your assertion that carrying picks is a bad idea with the actual offence people risk committing, and some examples of it being enforced.

I was also trying to make the point that there is nothing special about carrying picks in the UK, other than the relative lack of good reasons to be carrying them around in public.

My large maglite is (in theory) far more of a legal risk as it is both an excellent tool for burglars, and can be used as a weapon, but I have no qualms about taking it out of the house, whereas my picks have only left the house in the rare event of helping a friend who's been locked out.

So the ones shaped like an "L" is not worth buying but the ones shaped like a "Z" with a vertical middle is worth buying? Or just make my own.

Sry i cant edit my post but..
What exactly are "slimline" picks, is it just that they can fit in narrower key holes?
And is it better to get normal picks or slimline picks, if so which set do you recommend? For normal picks i was going to get the PXS-14, so is there an equivalent for slimline picks with about the same price?

For tension wrenches made out of the same material as the "L" shaped wrenches, including the Z wrenches it is always cheaper to make your own. Free versus $

Oh, I thought you meant like buying them in a kit is not worth it. But ya it comes in the kit so w/e im fine with buying them.

Anyone know anything about slimline picks? Cause i hear them everywhere but dont know what they are except that they are smaller ( i think) and can fit in smaller keyholes. What about a tubular lock pick, how much and is it worth it because it seems really easy to use.

Jack knife style picks are not very fun to learn on, really they are just a gimmick for those who already have some experience to impress their friends. In short, stick with the plain no-handled picks for maximum feedback then, when you feel confident, consider the gimmicky picks.
