And my house lock, it is an ilco, says ilco on the key and the actual lock, is it an ilco? or something else with the ilco name on it.
and sorry, I wrote the first post up in like 2 minutes, so I did name it with a really bad title, sorry.
you seem to be hearing what you want to hear.
ok.. how can i explain this.. when you buy a new Honda Accord, and it comes with Honda hub caps, but you hit a pot hole and one of them falls off, you can go to Wal-Mart and buy generic hub caps that dont have the fancy Honda logo, but they still fit your 14 inch wheel.
Kwikset makes locks, and even though they're not great locks that's their main thing locks. Eventually someone needs a copy of their house key to give their girlfriend or room mate and they go to Wal-Mart and get a copy made. There are several generic key manufacturers and I think Ilco is the biggest. So you show them your KW1 5 pin kwikset key and they're like, oh hey, it's a KW1 blank and we have a wall of Ilco so I'll pick that KW1 and make you a copy of your key. and if you have a fancy Kwikset Titan key with the big key head and 6 pins, that's a KW10 and they have to look on their display for a KW10 cuz it's different and longer than a simple 5 pin KW1 blank. Then they make you a copy of your fancy KW10 and you go home.
Ilco also makes car keys, so if my original GM key has that black plastic that says GM on the key head, ilco makes them in the same shape square or round depending on the door or the ignition, but the ilco blanks dont always have the fancy black rubber that says GM on them.
any questions?
