Exodus,

Thank you.

I thought I had seen that before, and you pull up the one I remembered. So, therein lies the question for Sambo.

Where exactly was this collection of locks when you originally took possession of them?

If they were awaiting disposal, you may have in fact broken the law. If on the other hand they were in a reasonably trafficed area and were considered disposed of, you may not have broken the law.

However, this raises another question. At what point does release of right to property take place? In most cases, it is assumed to have taken place when the original owner places the container in a publically trafficed area and leaves them. Presumably for the sanitation crew, but open to seizure by any person who happens by.

From a purely different standpoint. It would have been best to simply ask for the silly things. :?

Sambo, I'm tending to think that you may have irreversibly damaged your credibity on this subject. Not to say that people may not answer you, but more to say that you may find it difficult. If you really need the information of how to do this, I've seen it elsewhere on the Internet. Try google. I'm sure you can find it with that.

This 'give the guy a break' mentality is why the world is in the state it is in now.

Let me ask you a question:
Say you were in the middle of renovating your home and had some of the interior furnishings outside, to keep them from getting damaged. You pop out to get some more cement to level the floors and upon returning, you find someone putting your stuff into the back of a van/truck.

Would you:
A. Give the guy a break?
or
B. Break his fingers?

I'd opt for B every time. I have a 6D Maglite just waiting for someone to desecrate any of my belongings.

But, maybe the demolition contractors also had a salvage operation in progress, where eveything which could have been re-used, had to be saved. Who knows? Asking permission would have cleared it up.

If you find money in the street, who's is it? It's certainly not yours and should be handed in to the police. If you keep it and someone who sees you reports it, you can be charged with 'theft by finding' or something similar.

Why would they destroy perfectly good locks? Most schools have a very tight budget, and a few saved bucks here and there (reusing old locker locks) makes a big difference to them.

Sambo975 wrote:i recently found a large collection of Master Lock combination locks, and they all say the same V### on the back of them. They all also have keyhole in the back. I heard before that if they are the same version. a master key will open all of them. Is this true? Also, i wanted to attempt making a key, so if anyone would know how to find a keyblank i would be much appreciative.
