Ok I am thinking about signing up for the FB Locksmithing School. I would like to know a couple of questions.
First there machine looks like it just duplicates. Can you use it somehow to cut a key by code?
Second is there anything that would be helpful to get when I enroll such as some type of practice looks?
last I would love to learn how to do this am I taking the right step in getting there by taking this course?
OH BY the way I am new to the forum so I don't mind being told I am stupid if I am going about this the wrong way.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

The FB key machine can cut by code and duplicate. Also can cut safe deposit type keys as well but you would have to change the cutter wheel and the key guide for each setting.
A kwikset lock would be sufficient as a practice lock to get any heads up to prepare for the course.
As for taking the right direction by enrolling in the FB course, yeah it's a good start. They let you buy all the basic locksmith supplies from them and they also give you the option for subscribing to The National Locksmith publication so you can't really go wrong with FB. But it is very basic and to start your own lock business or to get hired by one you need to attend a formal class depending on the employer.

Many thanks.
I am enrolling this Friday.
I will be doing the payment plan but I think I will pay 100 every two weeks because I won’t to finish it during my summer brake from my programming classes.
Thanks a bunch for the feedback. I am so glad I stumbled upon this site some how as I was not looking for picking information but it got me excited.
To those who started, run, and answerer questions on this form, your doing a very nice job. TY.

Actually if you request for the free info packet from them and then wait a few weeks to a couple months, they send you another info packet and this time drop the enrollment price to around $500 something. Some of the more bolder members here even called FB saying they want to enroll and but that they wanted to do so with the discounted price.
Sometimes they say yes and sometimes no by making excuses like "we only give discounts at certain times of the year when the enrollment volume is low" or something like that. Just thought you might want this piece of info. Didn't want you to blow over $700 if you didn't have to.

More Bolder Members,
I like to think of us as less shy members

Well some of us are better at playing the waiting game than negotiating.

Yea I read this on the forms already on one of the reveiws. Thanks for the headsup. I am going to call everyday up to 20 times untill I get a receptionest that will give me the price if I have to.
Please remember we are an ethical site, and we don't tolerate any references to illegal entry or "braking in" whatever that might be.

I never said anything about illeagle entry what is this about. I simply mentioned that I have always enjoyed braking into stuff but now I wont to learn to pick it more then less. I don't brake the law.

It's usually best to just let these kind of experiences go. There are so many "first time poster" type people here that make outrageous claims or talk about their exploits in activites that can get them in trouble. And I've seen some of them get a much more stern warning or even getting close to being banned. It's really no big deal if your post gets edited. It helps to prevent members from wrapped up in a flame war with the moderators and other members in my opinion. I'd hate to see someone who has genuine interest in locksmithing have to leave the site.

Yea I will let it go you’re right its no big deal and they need to protect the credibility of the forum. I would have hit the back button if I saw nothing but bump keys and people talking about illegal activities.
I just called FB and the lady on the phone gave me a much better price. $25.00 down and $49.00 monthly for @ $649 she also had a plan at $15down and 39month at $699 total. I am going to go with the $49.00/month one I think.
If anyone is interested I got the number for the plan that’s 25down and the number is L019. I hope this helps someone

I am signed up now. I had a little problem though while on the phone. I called them back to give the billing information and he had the 25 down and 49 monthly right but still had it marked at over 900 total. Luckily I kept the name of the first lady I talked with and they were able to clear this up for me.
I have to thank you all on the forum for this forum has saved me over $300.
Is this forum owned by a business? if it is not then I would love to see them put a place to make donations on here because it is well deserved.

There is a place: http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=14675
Not only can you donate some cash to help keep it all running but you get a rather nice Tshirt too.

Nah, this is a independant site as far as I know. And yes you can make a donation. Here's the link, supporter.php . If you donate $20 you also get a nice LP101 t-shirt and a neat little avatar under your user name that says SUPPORTER.
