Help!

Postby freakshow54 » 28 Apr 2007 21:23

I was trying to help a friend get into his storage unit, as he lost his key. He has a lock similar to an Abus Diskus on it. I believe it was a cavalier. I was unable to pick it, so I tried drilling it, and even after removing the pins and springs, I was unable to rotate the cylinder.
What else can I possibly do to remove this lock?

Call a locksmith. Thats the only advice you will find here.

Tell the storage unit manager. They often have a fee for removing and replacing the locks/hasps on storage lockers. That way you're not responsible for chipped paint, bent metal etc...

I understand why everybody is telling this guy to call a locksmith, but I'm interested in knowing why the plug wouldn't spin if he drilled it and pulled out all of the pins. Is there anything special about these locks?

Postby raimundo » 3 May 2007 7:23

somewhere, i have a photo of a discus type lock that had been bolt cuttered on both sides of the shackle, pinching right through the edges of the clamshell, I would like to have seen the boltcutter that did that and the ape who used it.
