Lockpicking introduction video

Postby Knowthebird » 6 May 2007 12:59

Shameless self plug...

Made an introduction to lockpicking video with SploitCast.com. It is at http://sploitcast.com/ under News, May 4, 2007. Sorry for its size, it is pretty big. 222mb - 34 minutes long, yeah, I know :-). It's the basic stuff, with the show notes here... http://www.sploitcast.com/forums/index. ... topic=1290

Ok, If any of you wait through that long download please tell me what you think. I would be interested in any suggestions or critique.

Get yourself a decent connection :D I have a 100Mb line shared by a student house and at the moment the video is coming my way at about 200-250kB per second :)

I'll watch it tonight if I don't get laid ;)

Okay, I watched the first ten minutes and then skipped a few times and listened a little between skips :)

Pros:
-pretty good video quality
-very good basics told about lockpicking and the inner works of locks

Cons:
-the voice was echoing a little, probably because you have used the mic in the camera. (correct me if I'm wrong)
-in one point the sound clipped off for a couple of seconds and returned (not much of negative thing, but a little annoying)

All in all, very good demoing and I believe that this will be of help for some newbies to this hobby :)

And JackNco: Sorry if my post about the speed issue sounded a little "harsh" or mocking, wasn't meant to be so and that is the reason I hereby apologize you.

Hey "Knowthebird" i just watched it. all seemed pretty good. are you planning a series of these? the sound seemed find to me apart from where you scratched the mic.

One thing i could suggest would be to leave the diagrams up in the background so people can compare what your saying to what you just showed them. Im sure like most good picks you can see an image and build a 3D representation in your head but a lot of people cant so a visual aid would probably help.

oh and ide probaly get a some clear closeup shots of things like pins in future.

all the best

John

OK, thanks for the replies.

Yeah the sound is a little messed up because there was a good amount of editing done. Many pieces where cut.

As for the diagrams I could leave them up, but in the end they did not show up that well on camera. Deviant Ollams animations are really the best.

On the first video we did there where some near perfect close up shots of the lock, but I did not really plan out what I was going to say so we scrapped it.

I also feel like a real jerk rite now. I completely forgot to make sure lp101/Digital_Blue got credit for the beginners tutorial when I was sent the last edit of the video to check. I did mention it in the original video we did, but between the reedits and the other b.s. it got cut. I'm really sorry about that. I'm going to go post something in the show notes now and put a link back to the post on it. I'm sorry man.

I don't think there is any deffinate plan to make another. Only time will tell. If we do though, I will post a link on here.
