I bought a 1999 Daewoo Nubria, to fix. It took me 2 years to find an engine, and now I can't find the key! It is open, and I can remove any of the door, or trunk locks. The local locksmith where I live in Texas, said they can not do keys by VIN, or door lock, due to the codes not being available. Is there a way to get a key?
PLEASE HELP!

Try calling a dealer. They should be able to get you a key. Or have the locksmith change the ignition and door locks.

I didn't know those came with door locks, since no one would actually want to steal one. also, did you buy it brand new in 1999 to fix at that time?
just joshin... my dad's a mechanic so I hear all sorts of horror stories about first generation daewoo's and hyundais. but i'm sure its not as bad as my dad says.
welcome to the site, best of luck with the locks. =)
peace,

Unfortunately there are no codes on the vehicle -- put sometimes original owners will write it in the manual in the glovebox.. You're looking for code: J0001 - J1200.
Bon apetit.

I hope you didn't put very much money in the car or the engine. I think you will end up with a car that you spend a lot of time fixing and searching for parts.

you spent 2 years tracking down an engine.... theres one on ebay right now!
BUT you should get in contact with a local dealership, ide bet barrels are interchangeable on most deawoos so ebay is your friend, www.ebay.co.uk they are more common here.
All the best

Is this for an addition to a rare car collection or something? Most people wouldn't devote so much time to restore a Daewoo.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

9 out of 10 times there will be a key code on the drivers side door lock, take that out and take it the the locksmith, being a 1999 i dont think they came out with transponders till after 2000, if it does you will have to get a key from daewoo, get the locksmith to cut the key from the code and then you will have to rake the car to daewoo to code the key in

I think your question has been answered,
Its often best to pm a mod if you plan on posting somthing thatsd banned to be posted in the public sections as in auto discussion of any type,
The person you spoke to obvipously doesnt deal in vehicles or else he would have made you a key,
A decent lockie that deals with cars will make you a key no problem, start in the phone book and work your way through,
