Anyway,
Automotive stuff don't interest me much. Except maybe when I lock my keys in my Civic which is pretty often.

Got it,
The link on the first page is wrong. You need to add one more "o" in order to access the vids.
Interesting vids to watch, thx for posting them.

"Raking.
Is not the same as its not AS easy as some people make out, and mastering it as a fine art (IE speed raking or opening a lock in a single swipe) which i would never say i have mastered. most of the videos on youtube are people thrashing about in cheap locks till they open not really raking it with any skill."
Thats the first time I've heard of someone refer to Raking as an art. Ive always thouight of raking as more of a luck thing. SPP is a skill that involves patience.
For me I will use a hook, a diamond, a half ball to try to open alock. If something doesnt work I move onto the next pick, and try that out. For me a Rake is sort of like a shot in the dark, something to try after everything else failed, or something to try before everything else, to warm up the pins..

well it is and it isnt. watch some of the competitions, people timing them selves and opening a lock in less than a second. that takes some real skill!. so maybe not an art, but not something many people can master.
All the best.

hi jimmy:)
tiz Tempature1
i have watched pretty much all of your videos, and im really glad they are there. on youtube you can find people opening pretty much all kinds of locks, but you are the only person i have seen who really goes in depth with automotive locks. i have learned alot from your videos.
as for everyone else:
1. picking open cars/starting ignitions is not EASY, it takes just as much skill as opening a padlock.
2. He is not teaching people to steal cars. anyone who is in the business of stealing either already knows this, or is just gonna break into the car and hotwire it.
3. Locksmiths use this method frequently to get into cars, so it really isnt demeaning the art of lock picking.
anyway, nice vids slim.

This has already pretty much run its course and the links have been removed because either way its against the forum rules.
Yes people that steal cars on a reglar basis already know how to do it, but until i watched a video and read a bit on it i didn't know how to do it. posting it on youtube just makes the information easier to obtain. and to be honest ide like to make it as hard as possible for anyone wanting steal cars.
Yes we all pick locks and many people belive all this information should be hard to get hold of. but as i have already stated (and wont again, read back through the therad if you missed it) there is a difference.
And no its not demeaning to the art of lock picking, simply because its not lock picking.
I did not mean to offend anyone or say what they do is demeaning. but it is irresponsible.
All the best

I dont understand how you could say its not lockpicking.. your nuts.. like some one else said already.. locksmiths use this way to get into cars all the time. It is in my eyes lockpicking. there are no keys... the lock is locked... i didnt not bypass it..but did open it. so i must have picked it. ...right? Just because some people cant pick them or...some reason believe its against some rule no need to say that we are not doing it right. ..
so are you tellng me this would have been cool with everyone is i spp the lock. ? jiggers are not respectable way of opening a lock...even if it works.. ?
what blows my mind is that some people get there panties in a bunch about some car door locks ...yet we can openly teach kids to shim locks... or ..openly show/teach people how to open a dead bolt..
some things about the information available on this site and other like it.. are ass backwords.... let say some one makes a post about opening a vending machine... you guys call that ...no good. no go... suspicious... criminal.. but...if some one wants to know how to open a dead bolt.... you guys are more then willing to offer the info.. lol.. wow.. can you at least see where i am coming from... cars are not that big of deal... but.. rules are rules.. can only teach burglars... not car thiefs..
as for the fine art of speed rakeing guy... so let see it. ,, I know what raking is.. we all do.. its no big deal.. not holy beautiful fine art big deal..
9 times out of ten i like to give a lock one good rake and hold the tension before spp it.. works great...
BUT.... if me jiggling a lock open..is not picking.. wouldnt it be fair to say that raking is not picking.. and there just as ugly as jiggling.. uhm...interesting thought... any thoughts on that..?

"And no its not demeaning to the art of lock picking, simply because its not lock picking."
so is raking lockpicking. ? is using a snak pick lockpicking... ?
basicly what i am hearing is that the only respectable way to open a lock is to spp it?
when it come time for me to open a lock.. i pull out a box of tools.. and with in that box...something i have will open the lock... when i walk away the lock it opened... I really dont care much how i did it.. if i didnt have the key.... and didnt bypass it some how.. i picked it.. really .. i feel if i stuck something inside the keyway other then a key.. and opened the lock.. i pretty much picked it.
I understnd bumping and a snap pick or snap gun woold not be picking it.. but jigglers... i would call that picking..
