Alarm Lock install...........

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

Alarm Lock install...........

Postby lostlink » 12 May 2007 19:38

FYI..........
I did a PDL3500 mortise install about a month ago and the place on the template for the 1/2 inch hole for the wires is way off. It should be at least 3/8" higher. Best bet is to drill all the other mounting holes the use the inside mount plate as a guide. I prefer wrapping the wires with friction tape when going thru steel doors for added protection. I just remembered this as I've another one to install next week.......

Just a bit of useless info that I thought I'd pass along...........if this is the right place for it...........if not.....tisk, tisk.......

I hate it when people drill holes too small. I usually have to drill next to it and kind of fudge it (on wood frame only!) Metal doors, well you're kinda screwed. If there is enough clearance you could use a mini surface but that bites.

More useless info!

of course you are not talking about alarm switch holes so never mind.

You are talking about the hole for wiring for strike or door lock?

No,
I'm talking about an AlarmLock brand, model PDL3500 morise body with lever handle. It has a key pad and or prox card entry.

This rare time I did read/follow the instructions. The wires feed through the door to a battery pack unlike the Kaba/Simplex 5000 Eplex models.

I will be doing a DK3000 (Alarmlock key pad) with electric strike in the near future.
