I'm willing to bet that phpBB forces you to log in again if it detects your IP has changed in conjunction with your cookie data.

We have a winner! :D I have never had the logged out problem as I have static IP address 8)

Change of IP theory is wrong.
I'm on a different computer with a different subnet right now, which I had previously checked "keep logged in" and I was logged in without having to re log-in.

I still get random log outs and the "invalid session" error.

I find that if my browser (firefox) ever crashes, I get logged out, and when I log back in all posts appear as read.

I have a static IP, so I'm assuming the post read/unread thing is handled with a cookie, as is staying logged in, and the crash resets this?

Its very slightly annoying, not enough to try and debug firefox though.

I got logged out

Postby raimundo » 13 Jun 2007 9:28

I got logged out while writing a long pm to someone, and I almost lost the pm which wouldn't send, I woulda been pissed, but I back and forthed a bit and relogged in and somehow still sent it without retyping, in the past, I have lost pms this way before sending them. Send seems to be iffy, and that may be causeing double posts.

I got to the point that I always hit control C to cut the text before hitting submit. That way if the post does not go through I don't have to retype it.

Highlight the text you want to cut. Then Control C. Control V will then paste the text where you want it. Make sure you click on the text area first so you have a flashing cursor like you are going to type a message or control V will not work.
