You're not talking about a lockbox right?

Thats a pretty cool idea. I think I'll make up plans to construct my own.

HL Flake 800-231-4105 stocks them.

They are made by America Key Box and you can get either 5 trays for $230 or 10 trays for $400 and add $28 for the lid.

They ain't cheap, but they are well worth it for carrying blanks in a vehicle.

Now isnt that just the dogs danglies,

I am that impressed on hoiw this is gogin to solve my oewn problem of rattleing keys that i will make one of these myself but i think i shall make it from wood and build it in the van,

Thanks for the heads up,

As regards the ebay auction, dont forget your getting key stock with this lot as well so maybe the price isnt so overly much so afterall,

A poor mans version would be to use bits of wood in one of those fileing boxes you can get,

At least you can more easily find specific blanks that way. A customer asks you if you can copy his key and you tell him, "give me a second to see if I have it on file". :D

thats nice but spendy.
what i did was cut some sheet metal to the size of my box
drill holes so my blankes didnt touch each other
I used 3/16 bolt with a wing nut
the wing nut can tighten down and keep my keys from jingeling around
I did have to drill some of the blanks so the bolt would fit but only a few
I hope you can under stand my idea its pretty simple and work great

The reason i like the idea is space saving and it means that i can take my keys in the house at night to avoid rusting them and also means i can get more blanks in the van without having to find another wall somewhere to screw blank boards to,

I will start this at some point but havent yet as i like to think and ponder things a while before commiting myself to making something, that way any problems and issues can be wortked out,

A simple way would be a box with groovbes in the inside sides where boards slot in,

A posher heavier way is to have linear bearings so they are smooth etc,

Mine will likely be ply wood and grooved to accept boards,

The best idea being that each board can be used both sides 8)

The way these are made, the box has 3" slotted pieces at the opening end only. Each slot also has a relief cut into it so you can lean the rack back and it stays standing.

I'll post detailed pics if anyone is interested.

Figure your time wisely though before making your own. How much money could you be making while you are sitting in your shed building this thing? I would be willing to bet you could make more money than they cost in the amount of time it would take to build one.

Im willing to bet i cant buy one that will fit in the space left in my van as a custom made one will,

I understand the extra slot thing so it can keep the sheet upright and like that idea,

It will take me perhaps an hour or so to make the box out of wood already in stock so its a dinner time project that i can happily swallow in with other work and i dont have to wait postage times nor pay over £200 for somthing i can make for a few pounds but i really do see your point on time verses effort and cost and would usually agree with you,

Maybe ill make a pattern when i make it so i can simply router a few out in one go and sell a couple to pay for the time and materials anyway

I forgot about this to be honest but have a free afternoon for some home projects so will try to fit this in today or at least get some sort of design up and running, i personally like the idea of having a draw underneath as well for bits like spare cutting wheels etc so maybe ill go for that,

Maybe you could get a couple of ammo boxes, some 1/8" panel material, cup hooks and red paint.
