WB (Wilson Bohannan) Lock Info + Tips

Postby RockInBlack » 16 May 2007 18:42

I recently received a WB lock. It has 5 pins and I cant get it open yet. Yes, I'm somewhat experienced. Not quite sure if it opens anticlockwise or clockwise. Any further information or tips on these locks would be great

Yeah, they're actually a cool company. I'll try to get a scan of an article on them up here.

Light tension works best.

clockwise as I remember, like almost every lock, though some can open both ways, (no not wb, more like some master padlocks.) Use a bit of lube on that WB and that should make it more docile and submissive

WB padlocks

Postby Raymond » 22 May 2007 0:09

It is a funny thing about WB padlocks that they are so darned stubborn to pick open or make a key for but that they are so basic and simple in construction. I think it comes from very careful machine processes in their manufacture. They are very tight and accurate.

Just picked one today, actually.

also, found that article:

and http://padlocks.com has a cool history of the company as well. They don't get talked about much, but I think they make a fine product.

Good luck unless you rob an electric company, I'm pretty sure they aren't sold in stores.

sales

I have seen WilsonBohanon padlocks sold regularly in bolt & screw and industrial tool type stores. They are easily available. A great many large companies use and did use them in the past. The best attribute was weather resistance. They were made with several restricted keyways.

Sales

WilsonBohanon sells padlocks online at http://www.topbrasspadlocks.com under the TopBrass logo. Prices seem pretty good. At the moment, padlocks range from $6.40 to $10.25 and they have 7 different choices. Not sure what shipping costs are. You can also access this site from WB's homepage, http://padlocks.com, which was referenced earlier.

I'm a newbie but I suspect these aren't the locks that WB's large customers use. The Topbrass website directs you to order online if you are getting 12 or less locks.
