Kwikset 975 tailpiece removal (deadbolt)

This manual shoes a pickelfork is used to remove the tailpiece. Was wondering if anyone used anything else so they didn't have to purchase the rekeying set.

...well that was simple enough hahaha. Thanks =). One last thing, im deciding on if i should buy a lock picking kit or make my own... http://www.idealcreations.net/ls06.htm here is a kit has 12 tools, seems nice but wanted feedback since im very new to the field (as you can tell this is my 1st lock that i've dissambled haha)

no worries, man. You'll get used to it quick.

I've never heard a good review of idealcreations. SouthOrd, Southern Specialties, Lockpickshop, are all often used, trusted vendors.

SouthOrd even has an "outlet" with blemished picks at discounted prices. That's how I got my first set.

Hm thanks a bunch. Mind if i shoot a few more questions at ya?

1) 8 vs 14 vs 32 set. Why would you need which? I mean the 8 set seems to have all the basic picks that would be needed for any lock really...mabey im not getting something haha.

2) I was a dumbass and didn't make/buy a plug fowarder XD (lucky 2 identical locks came with the package i bought) But is their any way to get any backup springs? I mean you think they would carry them at home depot? (couple of em got un-winded when i tried putting the lock back together). Also whats the best way to make a plug fowarder to? I mean i don't have many power tools/extra wood pieces laying around....I saw this post viewtopic.php?t=10505 and tried to make one with a crayon but wasn't working to good =/ I think its becase the end of my plug is rounded off and the spring was getting stuck or something...(got a few scratches in tit now =( ..ohh well ill just melt some wax in to the cracks if it becomes a problem !_!)
