What locks are good to start with?

Hi im new to lockpicking and i was wondering what are some good locks to start with? Are they expensive is there any place i can get them cheap or anything like that.

a 'Kwickset' (sp?) dead bolt, i think they are cheap.

The best starting lock is the 'U-Key' package that Varjeal is selling in the Buy-Sell-Trade section

Kwikset locks (by black&decker) are fairly easy to pick. Also you might want to go and buy a Masterlock Number 3 padlock. You can tell if it's a number 3 by looking on the bottom, by where you put the key in. It should be stamped there. #3's sometimes spring open by just inserting the pick. It's nice to have a cylinder lock that you can take apart because you can take out /add pins are you start off and advance.

Generally speaking you get what you pay for when it comes to locks, so look for VERY cheap padlocks and such and chances are they are easy to pick. Welcome to the world of lockpicking!

what i did was get a realy really really really easy to pick cabenat lock take it a part to learn about it only put in 1 pin the go 1 by one till there all in once u can do that(wich take like 10 mins)buy a nice cheap crappy padlock pick that once your got that down pat go get the dead bot and do the pin thing i said in the beginning then just keep moving to harder and harder locks!

Just make sure that cheap padlock is a master no.3. Buying others such as brinks or even other master locks can get you into spool pins which can be very discouraging for beginners.

You can find them at Home Depot. Last time i was there they were on the shelf labelled "high security," oddly enough.

You can probobly buy a No. 3 lock at any hardware store (or any other place that sells locks)
