I vote for heating the key as you insert it using visegrips or something to hold the key. You have the lock off the door so don't worry about the fumes because you can work in a safe environment liike outside in the wind. If you are near any kind of lab find a fume hood. The heat should melt the glue and allow the key to fit into it and turn. Trim the head off the key and it will fit through the knob. soaking the knob in many of the solvents will most likely ruin the finish.
This method work on car locks frozen with ice or glue also.
