kwikset 750 picking problem - warn out spring cover?

Hey i followed that article by DB (i think thats his name) where he had you go from picking 1 pin and end up picking 5 of them . Well from doing so i think i may have worn out the spring cover from each time i needed to add a new Top pin and spring. Could this be the reason why i am having a little bit of trouble trying to pick the lock? Like when i push the pins i can feel the spring cover lift up a bit and i need to press it down again sometimes. Oh and another thing on this lock is that i bought the southord mpsx-14 pick set and it seems some of the tools are to wide...i saw some posts about sanding them down but is their any other suggestions? Mabey im just not use to picking yet heh. (And yeah, ill keep practicing =p). Sorry if this is a repost...when i search the topic alot of the titles aren't very descriptive and i get a lot of results

I've never completely read the guide !! I doubt that it said to take of the "spring cover" for repinning your lock ??

A quick fix to your problem would be to put electrical tape to hold the cover !! Don't "sand' down your picks !!! Cut your tensioner so it fits in the top of the keyway. You'll have plenty of space for your picks

I don't think DB meant to have people repin locks by removing the bible cover. Illusion's guide explains how it's usually done. While working with plug followers and tweezers is more of a hassle, it's necessary on some locks.

I had to remove the cover on one of my cylinders once, and it didn't fit as tightly afterward. (I was lazy and didn't take out the driver and spring when I removed a few pins, you can figure out what happened.) I used a little superglue on the sides of the cover, which holds it in place. Another option I've seen mentioned is to replace the cover with small machine screws.

NO, screws will compress your springs. Some locks, like MEDECO have these screws. But it was built like that. Adding the screws will take away some of the space required in the bible !!

I thought just a millimeter or two wouldn't make much difference, but you're more experienced than I am. However, it wouldn't be hard to replace the springs with shorter ones, as they're easy to get to once the cover has been removed.
