Abus 65/50

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Abus 65/50

Postby smiddit » 3 Jun 2007 10:20

Hi, I'm new to the world of lock picking and I'm loving these forums.
So far I've managed to pick various easy padlocks and pin tumbler door locks (the ones you get in UPVC doors).

I bought the Abus 65/50 not knowing that its beyond my skill level at the moment. Can anyone give me any help with this lock? I think it has security pins in it.

I can't seem to set any of the pins at all and if you give it too much tension the pins won't budge at all. It seems to be a very fine line between it locking up altogether and just enough tension.

Any help much appreciated.

light tension

Postby raimundo » 3 Jun 2007 10:36

light tension and a smooth sanded hook or a bogota rake with light jigglein and pulsed tension. if its beyond your skill level, lucky you, your gonna learn something now, and you skill level will advance. beyond that, I don't actually recognize the lock by model number, (often the abus numbers are height and thickness dimensions) but someone else here will probably recognize it and tell you all about it. security pins are not so difficult if you read up on the techniques, just use search, and be creative aobut the search terms, some will come back with way to many threads, and some of those threads are huge with just a passing mention of the information you need,
read through the stickies, they have the good information condensed.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

65/35 has 4 pins (plain front pin and spools for the others)
65/30 has 4 pins (plain front pin and spools for the others)
65/20 has 3 pins (no security pins)

Security pins are not advanced, here seems you have a hard time getting a lock without them. Anywhere there is a topic here on them: viewtopic.php?t=17879 , reading the stickies is a very worthwhile investment in time.

Rake the lock until you get a false set (the plug turns a couple degrees), then attack the pins that don't move. When you will push these pins, you'll feel the plug turn counter clockwise. Keep the tension while pushing on the pin until you feel it(or ear it) pass the shear line !! Other than that PRACTICE !!!

When I was young I used to be as fine a man as ever you'd see
Til the Prince of Wales he said to me: "Come and join the British army"

Toora loora loora loo, they're looking for monkeys up at the zoo
And says I: "If I had a face like you, I'd join the British army"

Sarah Comden baked a cake, 'twas all for poor oul Slattery's sake
She threw herself into the lake, pretending she was barmy

Toora loora loora loo, they're looking for monkeys up at the zoo
And says I: "If I had a face like you, I'd join the British army"

Corporal Daly went away, his wife got in the family way
And the only thing that she could say, was: "Blame the British army"

Toora loora loora loo, they're looking for monkeys up at the zoo
And says I: "If I had a face like you, I'd join the British army"

Corporal Kelly's a terrible drought, just give him a couple of jars of stout
And he'll beat the enemy with his mouth and save the British army

Toora loora loora loo, they're looking for monkeys up at the zoo
And says I: "If I had a face like you, I'd join the British army"

Kilted soldiers wear no drawers, won't you kindly lend them yours
The rich must always help the poor to save the British army

Toora loora loora loo, they're looking for monkeys up at the zoo
And says I: "If I had a face like you, I'd join the British army"

When I was young I used to be as fine a man as ever you'd see
Til the Prince of Wales he said to me: "Come and join the British army"

Toora loora loora loo, they're looking for monkeys up at the zoo
And says I: "If I had a face like you, I'd join the British army"

In the county Tyrone, in the town of Dungannon
Where many a ruckus meself had a hand in
Bob Williamson lived there, a weaver by trade
And all of us thought him a stout-hearted blade.

On the twelfth of July as it yearly did come
Bob played on the flute to the sound of the drum
You can talk of your fiddles, your harp or your lute
But there´s nothing could sound like the Old Orange Flute.

But the treacherous scoundrel, he took us all in
For he married a Papish named Bridget McGinn
Turned Papish himself and forsook the Old Cause
That gave us our freedom, religion and laws.

And the boys in the county made such a stir on it
They forced Bob to flee to the province of Connaught;
Took with him his wife and his fixins, to boot,
And along with the rest went the Old Orange Flute.

Each Sunday at mass, to atone for past deeds,
Bob said Paters and Aves and counted his beads
Till one Sunday morn, at the priest´s own require
Bob went for to play with the flutes in the choir.

He went for to play with the flutes in the mass
But the instrument quivered and cried."O Alas!"
And blow as he would, though he made a great noise,
The flute would play only "The Protestant Boys".

Bob jumped up and huffed, and was all in a flutter,
He pitched the old flute in the best holy water;
He thought that this charm would bring some other sound,
When he tried it again, it played "Croppies Lie Down!"

And for all he would finger and twiddle and blow
For to play Papish music, the flute would not go;
"Kick the Pope" to "Boyne Water" was all it would sound
Not one Papish bleat in it could e´er be found.

At a council of priests that was held the next day
They decided to banish the Old Flute away;
They couldn´t knock heresy out of its head
So they bought Bob another to play in its stead.

And the Old Flute was doomed, and its fate was pathetic
´Twas fastened and burnt at the stake as heretic.
As the flames rose around it, you could hear a strange noise
´Twas the Old Flute still a-whistlin´ "The Protestant Boys".

Now we can play this all day, but I'll win and you'll cry and this is not what this site is for.... now cut it out

The Men Behind The Wire

Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire
Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire

In the little streets of Belfast
In the dark of early morn
British soldiers came arunning
Breaking little homes with scorn
Hear the sobs of crying children
Dragging fathers from their beds
Watch the scene as helpless mothers
Watch the blood fall from their heads

Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire
Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire

Not for them a judge or jury
Or indeed a crime at all
Being Irish means they're guilty
So they're guilty one and all
'Round the world the truth will echo
Cromwell's men are here again
England's name again is sullied
In the eyes of honest men

Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire
Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire

Proudly march behind our banner
Proudly march behind our men
We will have them free to help us
Build a nation once again
On the people, step together
Proudly marching on our way
Never fear or never falter
Till the boys come home to stay

Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire
Armoured cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire.
