A few fb questions

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

A few fb questions

Postby peterpan » 4 Jun 2007 23:39

Sorry for these stupid questions.

- When in the course do you get the key cutter?
+ If I am doing the payment plan, will I get it later then if I payed all at once?

- If I do 25 down and 50 a month, how slowly will I get the lessons.

- If I pay all at once, will i get the lessons all at once or how does that work?

Thanks.

Also I have searched but with no luck to finding these answers.

Thanks again.

If my memory serves me right, you get the key machine on the second to the last lesson set. And I don't think how you decide to pay would affect how soon you recieve the key machine because it corresponds with the order of the lesson subject.

How delayed your lessons become if you put it on the installment plan will probably depend on how much you lag on sending the payments.

And finally no, it doesn't matter if you pay all at once or by installment. You will get each lesson seperately rather than all at once like how some other courses do.

Based on my personal experience............

If you pay all at once, they want you to take the 30 days to evaluate the program in case you may want a refund.
They will send the first 15 lessons and if you want a refund DO NOT return any tests for grading. Simply return everything for a full refund within the 30 day period. If you decide you want to complete the course and you already paid in full, simply give them a call after the 30 days and they will send the rest of the courses with key machine. Only after completing the 30 lessons, they will send you the advanced and burglar alarm lessons.....

There is another one out there but I cannot recall it off the top of my head. FB is the most widely taken course around here though.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

There are several. I have personal experience with AssuredLocksmithTraining.com. Their lessons are more modern and current in my opinion but is very watered down. And if you want the key machine the whole course will cost you almost $1000. The only good thing about that course is their supply company. They carry way better stuff than FB.

But what FB lacks in modernness and dinky supplies they make up in support and more credibility of their diploma. Foley-Belsaw is listed frequently in many locksmith training course lists including the one in ALOA. And they also offer you a subscription to The National Locksmith trade magazine. That alone made taking the FB course worth it. It really gives you a better look into the locksmith industry and every subscriber is given a $15,000 bond and a Locksmith ID card.

There are many other self-study courses out there that I have not tried (and probably never will) but from my experience Foley-Belsaw is the most legitimate and best home-study course you can enroll for.

Does fb care about your age?

I am 17, so will they still accept me?

Thanks.

I am not sure. You will have to call and ask.

Here you can opt to have the entire course material sent to you with the first shipment... But you gotta wait till the waiver/agreement comes first and then send it back.
