need help unlocking a "simple" door

Hello,

I need help unlocking the door that leads to the office in my house. I am not familiar with types of locks so I took pictures hoping they provide enough information for someone on this forum to help me:

Type of lock (uses a key to open):

Notice where the lock is suppose to snap the door shut, there happens to be a bridge separating the door and the outside making it difficult to slip a coat hanger or a credit through.

To lock this door from the inside is the usual twisting thing that tends to be used on bedroom/bathroom doors of any modern house.

If anyone could help me open this door, much would be appreciated.

It's open in the photo which I find a little unusual. Did you take a picture of the lock while it was open knowing you were going to need to open it later?

I'm locked out because my parents will not me allow me to use their computer. I have found numerous amounts of malware, after hearing them complain about how slow the computer runs. They assume I'm "destroying" their files, regardless I'm just removing malware. I'm a moderator a www.majorgeeks.com, but being only Asian decendents, they speak very little english and do not understand..

I agree with jimb that your door is open in the phone, so it looks like you've already accomplished the task of unlocking it.

If your problem happens to be that you sometimes lock yourself out, one tip I can recommend is to keep a spare key in your wallet. Most of the time when someone loses their keys, they still have their wallet. In that scenario, you could simply unlock the door with a spare key from your wallet.

The computer is not mine, it is strictly my parents. I'm only trying to clean the 400+ numerous of malware that was found on their computer after they accused me of deleting important files such as taxes and all that hoopla. Honestly, I'm not that ignorant to pull a prank like that.

In regards to the computer issue, you could point your parents to http://www.safer-networking.org/, the makers of "Spybot Search and Destroy". That program works wonders for malware, and is available in a plethora of foreign languages so they should be able to understand what's happening to their computer.

I've already explained to them. Spybot only solves mild issues anyways. They have issues where they are registered into the registry and requires manual removal and coding to return them back to its default state.

Spybot is a ridiculously thorough program. If you still think you have malware, try running a scan with Lavasoft's ad-aware. You could also run a complete scan for both viruses and other malware at http://housecall.trendmicro.com.

If your parents don't trust you, have them be in the room with you while you work on cleaning their computer. You might even try explaining what you are doing - it doesn't sound like you have anything to hide.
