Bitten off more than I can chew? Mul-T-Lock

Postby cav_king » 6 Jun 2007 11:34

Hi guys/gals

Ive have been signed up to this forum for quite some time now, but havent had much input. Until now.

I have been doing very well at picking pin tumbler padlocks and various other locks. Therefore need to challenge myself with higher security locks.

This is a hobby of mine and im sure you'll all agree that it can be very addictive.

My new challenge is a Dimpled Mul-T-Lock.. and its a biggen..
I have set a very large challenge for myself and will be very happy if i can get this new lock to open...

I have been reading and learning as much as I can about the workings of these locks, although I do not have the privilage of being in the advanced section of this fantastic website, therefore my knowledge is limited to less than its full potential... I know that I am required to qualify to be entered in the advanced section and completely agree with the rules...

This means I will not be asking advice how to open it, but I respect the amount of knowledge that your brains contain so I will only ask if you think i have bitten off more than I can chew..

And if anyone here has opened this lock - if so, was it easy (or shall we say reasonable)?

Well, thanks for reading this and will look forward to your replies

Here is my new challenge!

That is a fantastic interpretation...

I knew it'll be hard but as much as a 72oz? not just 8oz?

I'd try to jam the dust cover open, just so there's as little as possible complicating the picking. Relying on your wrench to keep it open is going to mess with feedback, which might not be a problem with wafer locks (which sometimes have covers) but this lock should be much more touchy.
I'd also think about cleaning the cylinder out and lubricating it, since the lock looks pretty worn.

Keep at it fella, when it finally pops you'll get a great rush and you will have learned alot about this kind of lock.
Im no expert and I still managed this:-

Use the right tools and give the mech a good clean before starting though.

Good luck!
