Here's a picture of the lock:

I think it might be a 7-pin tubular lock, but it looks like quite an odd tubular lock if it is... but basically, I can't identify the type of lock it is, let alone getting started on attempting to pick it.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated :)

I would bet dimes to donuts you'll not get that open, but I want the answers to UWs questions before you get the name of it.

The story is quite long, but here it goes:

I recently moved into an apartment (a very nice apartment). Everything was great except for one thing: the large steel box that contained a ROUTER for the apartment.

Now, for anyone who knows proper networking, you do not place a router near each node, especially with NAT enabled!

I called up tech support for the company I am leasing the building from and they said it wasn't their problem - to call the ISP. I call the ISP and they said that they have the key to it, but they don't control the router - my landlord does! So needless to say, NO ONE claims to own the contents of this box!

I own a small business and host a very small HTTP server I demo web applications I make for customers out of my home, so a NAT'd router is extremely painful for me - I cannot continue running my business with it in the way. I even called both my landlord and the ISP practically begging to allow me access to the box (they won't); I simply want to reconfigure or remove the router since neither of them own it and I'd gladly re-close the box and leave any other components in there alone.

sadly, you won't be able to get help, as it's not your lock.

As UW says, call a locksmith. Sorry, man. Locks can certainly get in the way of legitimate applications, but we can't cross this line, even when it's a no man's land you've found yourself in the middle of.

Good luck with it.

That's what my next option was to do if I was unable to do it myself; I'm not sure how much that'd cost though :?
