solid plastic rod

I am looking for rather a round O or rectangle [] shape of plastic. i plan on trying to make handles with it. I want it to be solid not hollow.

I have some plastic here, but its in sheets. just wanted to know if anyone has tried this. I plan on heating the end so it can be inserted enough after i make notches so it cant be pulled out afterwards.

any info would be greatly appreciated. I should have some kind of prototype done this week. and hopefully i can get my usb ports to work on this machine so i can upload images of it.

I am guessing picks.

As regards that though, I highly doubt that any pick/handle combo that doesn't have a full length (or at least 3/4) tang, will hold up to typical picking leverage with a "melt-n'-insert" type of attachement. And trying to slide a full length tang into almost any type of plastic rod, sounds unlikely to work to me.

Kspec, please describe what exactly you are hoping to join to the handle.

Plastic curtain rods sound a lot like what you're describing, though I don't know whether they'd actually work for your purposes.

if the picks are full handle commercial picks, try this, get the white plastic tube from a bic biro, and wrap it in some paper to take the rough marks of a vise and press it flat in the vise, as you release it, after a turn of the vise handle, insert the pick handle then continue releaseing, the biro will spring back around it if you didnt over do the crushing. this will work well enough but if you want it flattened and melted on, you may have to try the toaster oven for a few minutes, no telling if the plastic will retain its original properties after cooking though.

thanks for the advice, that site has some good plastic. i have a bunch of lexan 3/8 " and 1/2 inch but its harder to work with, then if i was to buy it already round. i was wondering what did you end up getting from there?

Hypodermic tubing, wire, and some aluminum stock for pick handles and...whatever mysterious and highly ninja thing I'm building with the tube and wire

There was a site that had carbon fiber in the 1/16" x 1/2" size I like for pick handles, but I just couldn't justify the cost.
