Southord PXS-17 - Please explain the picks to me.

Hello my name is brock and i have been interested in lock picking for quite some time now and a couple of days ago i decided i wanted to get a little further into it and i bought the PXS-17 wich can be found here http://www.lockpickshop.com/PXS-17.html can someone give me an explaination of what is in this set and what all the tools are for i would really appriciate it. Well, all the picks in that set have been described for their uses before. But since you're new I'll cut you some slack. In the future though Make sure to use the search function on this site found at the top right of the screen.

You have 2 hooks:
1 Deep Hook
1 Short Hook
These are both used to individually lift single pin stacks at a time to single pin pick (spp.)

1 Ball and
1 Double Ball Rake
These are used to single pin pick and rake wafer locks respectively.

2 Saw-tooth rakes. These aren't the greatest rakes in the world, but you rub the bottom of the pins with them. Search for raking techniques.

2 Half diamonds - 1 big and 1 small.
These are single pin picking capable as well as rakes. Beginners tend to like them for that reason.

Then you've got an S-rake, which is my favorite rake.

1 'W' rake, which is also a fairly decent rake.

and finally some double ended crap pick I never realled liked.

Oh and then your tension wrenches which should be obvious.

Thats is more then you'll ever need. Majority of us use only about three main pick tools 90% of the time.

The short hook is my number one pick.

The pick you practice with the most and become the most comfortable with will become your favorite and the rest will just sit in the case and look pretty.
