another question, why do some handles have the pick in the middle, and others on the end

I am thinking of the slim line locks anyway, because I wont do anything crazy or hard core just wet where i may risk breaking them. I am considering the sli line (not reinforced) # 4, 11, and 14

Good start but the the price listed is for 1 tension tool, not all shown. I don't know why they show that picture with 4 tension wrenches. When you order you will only get one.

Slim line picks can be extremely useful at times but if you are a novice at picking you may end up regretting it. Most people who are new tends to apply way too much tension pressure in the first few months of practice and this can quickly bend the pick tools. Slim lines are weaker so they will bend eventually if you are not used to applying light tension on locks.

If you really wanted to you could get those slim line picks you wanted but also get a regular sized pick set to work with on most locks.

As many have advised by now, you should stick with some simple and regular picks before getting into slimlines (which are very fragile). I was hoping you'd search around for some other similar threads but I guess I'll indulge this time.

Your best option are the $1.49 "Plain Ripple Handle" (PRH) picks from Southern Specialties at www.lockpicktools.com. Get yourself a small hook, medium hook, large diamond, and then anything else that is to your liking. As for a tension wrench, I highly recommend the long twist-flex.

These tools are the first and foremost tools I use, not only in sport picking, but in my profession as a locksmith. They are simple and get the job done, and the ripple handle keeps your fingers from bleeding.
