Samsonite briefcase combi - what a shame

I hope this isn't too trivial...
I had to use a B&K vibration meter that was locked up inside a Samsonite briefcase. The case had a 3-digit thumbwheel & no one in the department knew the number. With a little fidgetting I found this lock had a glaring slip - a visible grove on the shaft (in the gap near each wheel) when you hit the right number, individually!

And that worked well...but no ya, I know what you are saying, as long as no guys at work know about locks you are fine. Or as long as you don't have someone with too much time on their hands.

why would one put one on the DAT recorder, to me a dat recorder is a type of taperecorder used by musicians, perhaps there are other things called DAT recorders? Not even sure what an FFT is, but it sounds like some sort of radio equipment, and again, vibration? like when trucks drive by? im still confused.

It's a type of signal processing. FFT, DCT, and the rest, used in all sorts of applications from audio processing to digital image compression and so on.
