Info on a BEST lock.

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Where I work they use the Best with the G keyway both with the doors and padlocks. I have picked one door and one padlock. For some reason (I don't know why) when I picked the door the whole core came out. No flying pins, no damage, just removed the core, turned the bolt pin, went in reverse to lock it back.

that woudl be cause you picked it to the control sheer.... and I think you should go tell you boss now that you were picking these locks, as well as reminding him that they could have failed and potentionaly endangered your co-workers and the companies safety and security... you know just to see what they think about it... maybe they'll give you a super long period of vacation

I was asked to pick them for that very reason. Needless to say he was NOT a happy camper.

You know what?

The more I have thought about this statement and some of the other comments you have said to others, I find you to be an offensive Ass. I came to this forum to learn and have read the site for days at a time. I knew with all the experience and knowledge most of the members have posted that I would find the answers without posting a dumbass question.

When I first registered here I thought I could make my own picks and wasn't happy with what I came up with. I knew I had a hardness issue with some of the metal I used and asked a question based on not finding the info here. I was convinced to go ahead and buy a set of picks. I did and have had great success in providing a service to various customers on one level or another.

My post here was to add my experience of the Best Lock, it was not to leave myself open to being scolded or labeled by someone that such as yourself.

Just because you're a "Supporter" (I can buy a t-shirt also) don't push your arrogance on me.
Have a nice day or don't.

XOXOXOX

In his defense you were picking a lock which you had virtually no understanding of. you were surprised when pins didn't fall out. we all pick locks at home that we may not have a great knowledge of. but there are several locks on the market that will simply lock in place if you pick them and turn the plug to far. and this renders them useless.

Probably best not to tackle locks that are in use unless u have a good understanding of them even if you are asked.
