OK now I have done lesson's 11-15 while at work and it only took me about 2 hours (with interruptions)
all quotes are from jimb off the link above.
Lesson 11 – Disc Tumbler Lock Construction And Picking
Objective: To learn the construction of the disc tumbler locks, how they work and how to pick them.
Supplies: 1 lock, 2 lock picks and 1 tension wrench.
Returned work: 1 open lock
Same except work card is sent back not the lock. Be careful when taking the lock apart not to lose the springs. I crawled around for a while searching for 2 of them. This lesson was fun. I was able to pick the lock with all of the tumblers installed in many different combinations. I am not sure that I wasn't getting lucky when I was filling the pins though because once I set 3 no matter the combo the lock would open. oh yea no keys are included with the lock.
Lesson 12 – Combination Locks
Objective: To learn the construction of the combination padlocks and how to open them when the combination is not known.
Supplies: 1 combination padlock
Returned work: Combination lock
Very very interesting lesson. You no longer send the lock back just a card. You will have to figure out the combo for this lesson but is very easy since the lock has been drilled for easy viewing.
Lesson 13 – Side Bar Wafer Lock Construction
Objective: To learn the construction of the side bar wafer lock and how it works.
Supplies: None.
Returned work: Exam.
Nothing has changed. I found it interesting they said these locks could not be picked without drilling a little hole first. I bet some peaple in here could prove them wrong.
Lesson 14- Car Opening And Lock Outs
Objective: To learn car-opening techniques, how to open cars without keys through the use of specialized tools.
Supplies: Detailed drawings of car opening procedures.
Returned work: Exam.
Same. I have a little experience here so it was kind of boring. I am sure some one with no experience would find it very interesting.
Lesson 15 – Automotive Lock And Cylinder Removal
Objective: To learn how automotive locks are contained in the car, how to remove, disassemble and reassemble them.
Supplies: Detailed drawings for typical installation.
Returned work: Exam.
All I can say is its the same.
Well all and all I liked these lessons. I guess I am half way done with the lessons but feel I have just scratched the surface of my training.
