My New DOM IX and RN Cutaways

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

My New DOM IX and RN Cutaways

Postby LockNewbie21 » 15 Jun 2007 16:55

Yup finally got them finished.

The IX is my favorite to date, thing sucked to cutaway but afte all the measurements and such you can see everything from bearings, passive pins and the floating bearing pin thing (see front of key).

And the other is killer to you can see pretty much everything including the keys cuts and warding moving through the lock.

Enjoy- and my stupididty on IX lead to do a 360 degree cutway since there is 2 rows of 5 pin stacks 4 on the bottom of the plug and 6 passive on the side. These are used for masterkeying, and boosting up key differs.

First is my favorite the group shot :)

Nice. Did you make it with a hand file or a rotary tool?

I used a dremel to cut the mass away then diamonds files to get every thing even. Then came fine metal files and emery paper to smoth everything.

Also the wire wheels on the dremel I have one that fits snug inside the housing, it deburrs and smooths the edges so it actually functions close to normal.

Thanks man, I switched to cutaways for a bit, its a bit more challenging getting the cuts right.

But my Dremel arm extrenstion took a crap so my paffeine? euro, yale 6 pin euro and and few other have to wait.

Wow, those look great. You said you were looking at possibly selling them, if you decide to do that let me know how much. I would like to have a couple cutaways, especially those dimple locks.
