Peterson Serrated Pry Bar

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Peterson Serrated Pry Bar

Postby blake1803 » 7 Jun 2007 15:24

If anyone has used this -- what types of keyways have you had success with? It looks to be a wonderful tension tool but it does seem a bit thick. I realize that the thickness is the idea, but even so, ideally I'd want to know which keyways it might work with specifically before considering buying it...

I apologize but you may have lost me... You may mean a tension tool? The purpose of the tool's serrations is to grip the walls of the key-way. There are a selection of sizes. Peterson's "z" comes in several sizes. Or do you mean something entirely different. I haven't heard of a "Pry-Bar".....

ohh and I believe it was brought up in another thread and was determined that the prybar was too thick for alot of locks (at 0.50 in thickness)

It'll fit locks like Kwikset or a regular Schlage or any other US lock where either the top or bottom of the keyway is large enough to fit it into. It's a great tool but I would also invest in the regular size wrenches that Peterson makes too.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

You will only use a pry bar to budge a stubbor lock after being picked.

Kews tools rock, but here I would honestly say use a flat head screw driver to ease the plug to rotate.

Have you tried feeler gauges mate? you can get a set for 1.50 american, and can choose the right size. I have made a few and they do work phenominal.

Oh, this is strange -- I just messaged zeke about it and the old thread still exists: viewtopic.php?t=21244

I guess I must have accidentally double-posted the thread when I first made it and people started replying to this one by mistake, weeks later? Hah. Sorry for the confusion. This was some Twilight Zone stuff for a second there...
