I ran into one of these today and it gave me a really hard time. What's the scoop on these padlocks?

Pretty solid protection against brute force attacks but fails in the anti-pick area. Maybe if it had some spool pins it would be a decent enough lock.

solid protection? i thought this was just a small padlock beefed up by a plastic casing.

Well by solid I mean difficult to pry and force open by the looks of it. A lot of padlocks that my peers used in school were commonly and frequently pryed and forced open by vandals and thieves so something like this lock probably would offer better protection against such attacks than say a Master 1500 combo lock.

Thats a great practice lock for SPPing. (yes, raking is faster)

I had trouble at first and found I needed a little more pressure on the tension wrench, not much, just more than usual.

...just my experience.

Really its a nice size lock to hold while picking, that's all.

oh, and pip, if your GIVING locks away, please let me know :D :D :D

Four pins eh? Now I'm mad, it must have been the angle the lock was positioned in. I had a hard time raking it. Working locks in your hands is definately easier than what you usually find in the real world.

nobody on this site is going to be very happy with you just saying you were apparently picking this lock where it was locked to something.

Don't pick locks that aren't yours or that are being relied on.

small key?

Postby raimundo » 1 Jul 2007 8:26

Does that lock have a key the same size as the M1 master key blank? or is it a smaller cyllinder?
For the master locks, some of them will have very small cylinders, for these locks, you need to make some tiny picks.
Don't let that put you off, making picks is a part of picking, sometimes you have to do it to reach the problem with a tool that works.

If you can pick an you can make picks, you are selfsufficient. if you are dependant on getting tools from some commercial shop, then you are not self sufficient.
when you have no tools and can make one in a short time, you can re equip yourself as you need when you need.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

smaller cylinder. I was gonna buy one but then I looked at the keyway and it would be tough to get the tension wrench in it and then put in the pick and have ample room to move around in. The keyhole looks smaller than the m1.

I have a court order by a New Your City judge to pick as many as 20 locks a day that don't belong to me, so it's ok.
