Safe stands about 1yard hight, its key operated, cream colour, obviously been painted, J.cartwright west bromwich, Eagle in middle.

Hi and welcome to the site, unfortunatly nobody here can help you as the site rules dictate:

Discussion of topics deemed "advanced" are reserved for the advanced forums. These topics include bypass of high security locks, safe lock manipulation, advanced pick tools, and automotive bypass & picking discussion.

Cheers

You will have to call a locksmith to open it im afraid, its not a lock you will be able to open as a new picker,

sorry to steal the the thread for a minute, but what do you have to do to access that information in secure threads (not trying to be a pain in the arse, but are there specifics? like requirements?)

Lucky I am board...

0.) Read every sticky on this board, then....

1). You have to run around 2 city blocks with your underwear on your head.
2.) You have to be able to peel a banana using only your feet.
3.) Say the alphabet backward while singing Mary had a little lamb.
4.) Submit a 14 page (100,000 words (which ever is longest)) essay (single spaced with correct format) about a 'Bot Fly.' :?:
5.) And finally read the following link to its fullest. :!:

The banana was the easy part, but since I still don't wear underwear, I guess I'll never make it.....

1) Should I post the video publicly or would you like me to PM it to you?
2) I decided you might be impressed if I went above and beyond, so I ate it using only my feet as well.
3) Good thing I am bilingual.
4) If I could get your address I will mail it as soon as possible.
5) Crap, did I spend the last four months doing all that for nothing?

firefighter, that is an old safe, 1881 was probably before dynamite bolts and a lot of other modern high security stuff. you should be able to get it open non destructively. Your profile does not say where you are, My guess is east coast US. or it could be england. The general usefulness of any reply you recieve will be mor accurate if you are dealing with someone in your native milieu. Each country has its peculilaritys and its experts in the local hardware.
when you need a key of an antique design, go to antique dealers, tell them you collect old keys, they may have a cigar box full. if you find anything that will go into the keyway, it may be worth your while to collect it. if it dosent open the lock, it may be modifyable to help in some way, either by tensioning the talon or manipulating the levers when its skeletonized to a single lifter.

I do not think a bit keyed lock from 1881 is properly classified as advanced high security.
I do not think I gave away any precious secrets in this post.
As others stated, you may need to see an expert. a locksmith, or an expert in antique locks. good luck finding one.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

Lol, I won 20$ by opening a banana with my feet once... He argued with me that because I had smashed it in the process, it didn't count... I proved him wrong by eating it. It tasted like victory.
