I just wanted to say hi, I just found this place and I must say its pretty impressive.

I started getting my own picks made today (I work with a guy who is fantastic with small tools). 7 hacksaw blades later and I was able to open my toolbox wafer type lock. Nice stuff I thought, although pretty easy for you guys it was a glorious moment for me

So anyway, I live in the UK and the reason I started looking for lockpicking sites is because I'm getting bored with my current work and wanted to retrain in another area of expertise. In a year and a half I plan on moving to Australia, so having another skillset would most likely help enourmously in finding a job or setting up business.

I have lots of questions, I guess I'll ask them on the main page though..

I live in Chicago, Illinois. I don't have too much interest in locks or lockpicking - so what the hell am I doing here? I broke my mailbox key off in the lock and I would love to benefit from your collective expertise on the subject of getting it out. the topic is linked here.

I probably won't post much here unless I have a lock-related problem. But from the FAQ it appears that this is the place to bring such issues. Thank you for helping a poor struggling soul.

First time newbie picking (not nose picking). Was stuck on a padlock since my brother forgot the combo. So I went searching and here I am thanks to www.howstufworks.c*m . I have to give them credit for the link they provided to this site. But I also give credit to all the people who's contributed and to this site full of info made available for us dead brainers to figure out. Yes, if do not find info related to combonation master pad locks (highly doubt that will happen) then I will make a new post to annoy you guys. hahaha . I bet that's happened already. What I really want to find out is how to figure out the combination so i can use it again, not like what some people who has suggested: The Sledge Hammer Way To Real Adulthood. Alrighty, wish me luck on my journey to never leave the computer again.

this is a great site. i am a locksmith wannabee and have been picking simple locks for years. being in the antique/design/ restoration business gives me some exposure to locks, hardware etc. i have designed and installed security systems mainly for myself and my rental property. recently i bought a "murphy bed wall safe" circa 1922 and through abject stupidity never got the combination. it turns out that this is a manipulation resistant safe. now i'm on the path of a new skill and hope to open this little gem without drilling. so there we are and here i am glad to be here.

I'm doing this a little backwards - I posted a kind of introduction in the wrong place...

Anyhow, I've been a commercial locksmith for a couple of years (I've been picking for about 10) but my daily exposure is limited to, well, commercial product. Specifically, the commercial product we distribute through the shop I work at.

I'm pretty excited about the variety of topics being discussed here - looks like a great place to broaden my horizons a bit.

been floating around as anon for a while, and figured its only polite to actually post and introduce myself

No experience whatsoever. made a few picks a year ago with sweeper bristles, never got them to work. Bought a south-ord set, can open any locks I previously had and a few of my friends' including the coin box on his antique bubble bobble machine - 2 whole dollars in quarters in there.

This is a LOT of fun, and uh well, we'll get into that later. I'm 20, and hell bent on not letting any lock stand in my way. (for good purposes only of course)
